Ways TerraCyte Can Be UsedEstablished Turf GrassesApply TerraCyte to well-established golf course fairways, greens and tees to control labeled diseases, Algae, Moss, Slime Molds and their spores. The best time to apply TerraCyte for curative applications is either the spring or fall when temperatures are 50°F or above. Spot Treatment on Turf Grasses For lawn fungus control plus the eradication of algae, moss, slime molds and their spores, spoon-feed TerraCyte on infected areas. Plant Beds, and Bench Areas in Nurseries Use TerraCyte on contaminated beds or as follow-up or preventative approach. TerraCyte can be applied weekly or biweekly. Mature Potted Plants Use TerraCyte on soil surfaces for the prevention and control of Algae, Moss, Liverwort, Slime Mold and their spores. TerraCyte can be applied biweekly. Is Water Necessary for Activation?TerraCyte is activated by moisture. Applications must be made over a wet grass surface or should be watered in after product is applied. Be sure to wash off excess from leaves or grass blades.Is TerraCyte Safe?TerraCyte Moss, Algae and Lawn Fungus Control has no heavy metals and has no toxic chemistry. It is registered with the EPA and is safe to use around family and pets. After the product has been applied and watered in, it has no re-entry restrictions. However, it works by oxidation, so care should be taken before and during application. Read the label carefully and wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying TerraCyte. How is TerraCyte different from other products? TerraCyte begins killing moss and algae on contact leaving behind no toxic residues. It is possible to apply the product one day and begin reseeding a day or two later. However, after treating moss, the dead layer may need to be removed or scraped so the seed will have good contact with the soil. In the photo on left, a portion of moss was lifted from the ground to show how thick it can be. Note: For lawn diseases, TerraCyte should be applied when the disease is actively growing. If you have had previous problems with soil pathogens such as Pythium, it can be applied at the time when conditions are right for active growth. Some diseases enter through the cuticle (leaf outer surface). Since it is a contact fungicide, it is not absorbed internally into the plant so is not as affective as a preventative. Although it will destroy all spores it contacts in the soil whether dormant or active. Be sure you have correctly identified the grass disease and that TerraCyte is labeled to control it for best results.
